Tetris Couldn't Succeed at This Gaming Ceremony — An Additional Classification Could Fix That

Whenever a major prize-giving event approaches, one notices a demand to include fresh award types to honor unsung work and delight the passions of fans with niche passions.

A fellow writer has already made supporting a scary games classification. That would rule. The same goes for tabletop games, which is someone's personal cause. Yet I need to apologize in advance for pushing forward just as with other blinkered fanatics, I possess a compelling case supporting my request is the most urgent and significant. Here's the proposal: We need a classification for brain-teasing titles.

Categorizing Game Types

Classifying creative works defies precise measurement; opinions vary greatly, and inevitably generate discussions concluding with vague boundaries. It's understandable that movie academies don’t do it. But it is an essential concession for the industry of video games, showing incredible range they hardly constitute a single creative category.

To recognize the complete range of gaming accomplishments to receive acknowledgment, while allowing diverse titles to compete fairly, classification by type becomes crucial.

Existing Game Classification System

Prominent interactive entertainment events currently feature genre categories for Action-oriented games, Action/Adventure, Role-Playing, Combat games, Simulation and strategy titles, and Sports/Racing games. Together, these classifications successfully include a lot of ground, and you can find room for most games within them.

This doesn't apply to logic-based experiences. There’s simply nowhere for their placement. Examine these examples from outstanding current releases, all very different: building puzzles in a particular game, intense tile-matching in a different title, engaging interpersonal challenges in another game. Which classification works between these six categories? Unfortunately, nowhere.

The Representation Problem

There are dozens of brilliant puzzle games released every year without proper recognition in entertainment awards, if they accidentally match award groups including Handheld titles, VR/AR Game, or the extremely competitive independent game categories.

  • An iconic brain-teaser wasn’t nominated completely in 2014
  • A different innovative game missed out that year
  • Popular arranging title received no acknowledgment recently
  • Limited numbers of brain-teasers scraped into small studio or handheld classifications

Importance of Logic Titles

These are often modest productions, however the design in brain-teasers is of massive significance. Famous handheld logic titles stand as most popular titles in the world continuing this trend for many years.

The legendary block-stacking game rivals famous sandbox experiences competing to become best-selling game of all time; it also contends as greatest title ever. Brain-teasers form essential building blocks within interactive entertainment, and engaging with diverse game types.

Proposal and Rationale

Brain-teasers wouldn't encounter this problem. One could readily select a field of five engaging, different, qualified experiences each ceremony simply — or rather, with difficulty, since numerous excellent so many good games out.

Restating the point, these represent titles that otherwise have no home in important events. Logic title developers function at the hard edge of video game design, developing some of most fundamental forms of gaming itself. Just like film action specialists, they merit acknowledgment. Let’s not keep them waiting generations.
